Bouna Sarr was never able to prevail against the German record champions. Even after his time in Munich, things didn’t go according to plan for him. Now he could decide to take a momentous step.

In 4 years in Munich he only made 33 appearances – Bouna Sarr’s time at FC Bayern went completely differently than planned. When the record champions transferred around eight million euros for the full-back to Olympique Marseille in October 2020, the transfer was also seen as a strategic measure to increase the squad; Sarr was intended to give the Munich team more depth. But the Senegalese international did not live up to expectations. Injuries kept throwing him back and he never had a real breakthrough.

After a total of just 1,293 minutes of action in four years, Sarr’s contract expired in the summer of 2024. Since then, the 33-year-old has been without a club – and apparently without any concrete prospects.

Now he could draw a line in the sand: According to the British portal “SportsBoom”, Sarr is now thinking about ending his career. The report refers to the long injury history that repeatedly slowed the player down during his time in Munich – “injury hell”.

It is possible that the numerous injuries on Säbener Straße in recent years have left too strong an impact. After all, the right-back was missing from Bayern’s competitive games for over a year. In 2022 he had to miss 63 days due to a patellar tendon injury, and a knee operation later cost him his participation in the World Cup in Qatar.

The next setback followed in November 2023: a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee. The subsequent six-month break finally ended his time at FC Bayern. And now possibly his career too.
