The Eisbären Berlin remain on the rise in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

The defending champions celebrated their fifth win in a row on the eleventh matchday with a 3:2 (0:0, 2:1, 1:1) against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg and reduced the gap to leaders Adler Mannheim to seven points. The rival surprisingly lost against the Schwenninger Wild Wings 0:3 (0:0, 0:1, 0:2).

After winning 2-0 (0-0, 1-0, 1-0) over the penultimate Iserlohn Roosters and their fourth success in a row, the Straubing Tigers drew level with the Mannheim team on points (27). EHC Red Bull Munich lost 1:2 (0:0, 0:1, 1:0, 0:1) at Löwen Frankfurt after extra time and had to accept the next setback. National goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger made a mistake with both goals conceded.

The Augsburg Panthers caused another surprise. The Swabians lost a 3-0 lead against the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven in the final third, but still got two points after the 4:3 (2:0, 1:0, 0:3, 0:0, 1:0) after a penalty shootout. The ERC Ingolstadt turned around a 1:3 deficit against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers and won furiously 7:4 (1:3, 3:0, 3:1).

After the exit from the Champions Hockey League (CHL), defenders Mitchell Reinke (23rd) and Jonas Müller (24th) as well as Andreas Eder (44th) scored for the Eisbären, who were plagued by injury concerns. Luis Schinko (32nd), who only returned from Munich on Wednesday, and Janik Möser (47th) scored the visitors’ goals.

The Eagles suffered their first defeat of the season after regular time against the Wild Wings. The identical twins Tyson (23rd) and Tylor Spink (51st) scored for the team from the Neckar origin, Zach Senyshyn (59th) made the decision.
