Inside, the historic hall will receive a technical makeover with a movable ground floor, improved acoustics, lighting and ventilation. A second hall with modern technology and a retractable stand for two hundred spectators will be built on the site of the former Arena Theater.
The renovated theater will be an example of sustainability, with heat pumps and solar panels to reduce the ecological footprint. Accessibility also receives a lot of attention: the building will be an open house for everyone, with a new Schouwburg Café as a meeting place.
The reopening of Schouwburg Kortrijk is planned for the autumn of 2026.
