Unlocked with the Serbia shirt against Andorra, he is the only Juventus striker to score in a month to date. Against Como he will be able to play as the sole center forward or with David at his side

October 16 – 10.55am – MILAN

Here we go again, as if it were a cyclical trend in the Juventus forwards department. A group of three strikers with a fluctuating performance so far in a fluid situation of ownership, a trio from which Igor Tudor draws from time to time according to what he sees in training and according to what he studies with his staff in view of the match in question. In recent weeks the tendency has seemed to protect Jonathan David’s investment, to restore continuity and therefore confidence as in the month of August in which the Canadian seemed to blossom at the expected speed: in a relative second place, colleagues Lois Openda and Dusan Vlahovic. For the Belgian, the search for the best position does not yet appear to be over, while for the Serbian centre-forward – in addition to the two dull performances as a starter – the contract expiring on 30 June 2026 weighs heavily. However, as already happened between August and September, Dusan is now also forcefully knocking again for a starting position. And off to the puzzle.

Vlahovic, Juve’s seasonal striker

On Tuesday evening, in fact, Vlahovic put an end to his fast and that of the other Juventus strikers with a goal in a Serbian shirt. In fact, none of the three had scored again for club or country after the number 9’s brace in Juventus-Borussia Dortmund on 16 September. In short, almost an entire month without a celebration in a department that on paper would have the conditions to put on a show every weekend. However, if we exclude the former Fiorentina player from the count, Openda has still never scored this season and David is stuck with a goal on his debut with Juventus and a goal for the national team at the beginning of September. Here, with the force of facts – and without complaining – Vlahovic now forcefully advances his candidacy to ask for more space: he wants a starting place which so far he has only been granted twice at Juventus, against Inter and Verona. It’s true, his eventual exploits won’t be able to be monetized until January (and shortly) and so far Dusan has only had an impact from the bench, but the numbers say that he is the attacker who scores the most. With an open series of five consecutive draws, Vlahovic’s record certainly cannot be ignored.

Juve, against Como with two strikers?

Whether it is in an unprecedented two-man attack or alone in the usual 3-4-2-1, little changes. Vlahovic always tries to demonstrate his determination and desire to make an impact, he doesn’t contest the coach’s decisions and waits to be called when necessary to make his contribution. Which so far is not comparable to that of his colleagues given his six goals against David’s two and Openda’s absolute zero. It’s not just about scoring, of course, but now Tudor has three days to study the anti-Como setup and Vlahovic’s return to celebration will be part of the signs to consider. If the usual form resists then Dusan will threaten Jonathan for the center forward position, but if the two strikers are tested for the first time, then the two could join forces in front of Kenan Yildiz. Between Como, Real Madrid and Lazio, Juventus absolutely must find a way to get back to racing and up front the puzzle always remains a big enigma to be solved on Tudor’s tactical board. Vlahovic knocks, who knows if the coach will decide to respond to the newfound scoring streak of the Juventus number 9. Whether his contract expires or not, the striker from Belgrade always has the same goal: (to) get the Lady back.
