Following the announced anti-immigration protest that will start this afternoon at 1 p.m., Mayor Halsema has decided to close down part of the center area – including Stationsplein and Dam Square – establish a safety risk area. The measure applies from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. Previously, the area around Museumplein was also designated as a safety risk area today due to possible disruption of public order.

It is still quiet at the anti-immigration demonstration on Museumplein around 2 p.m. A father and his daughter think it is a shame that the square is not (yet) full. “It has to be much busier, so that the entire field is full,” says one of them.

Initiator Martijn Koops opened the stage that was placed on Museumplein. He hopes for a peaceful demonstration to hear a right-wing voice. The demonstration has just left Museumplein and is running a route around Vondelpark.
