An innovative combination of retail, sport and city culture: The Schnitzler fashion house from Münster has implemented an extraordinary project in cooperation with the fitness provider Strong Partners. Under the title “Om & the City”, the in-house roof terrace became an urban yoga oasis over the summer of 2025 – with great success.
What was intended as an experiment from May to the end of September 2025 quickly became a well-known format throughout the city. Almost all courses were fully booked and the participants were a diverse mix from young to old. It was clear to the organizers from the start that the project had no commercial orientation. Instead, the focus should be on openness, encounters and the beauty of Münster’s city center.
“We wanted to create an offer where you come in without any thoughts of consumerism, experience something nice and leave with a positive feeling about Schnitzler,” explains Andreas Weitkamp, owner of Schnitzler at the Prinzipalmarkt. Paula Menninghaus, co-founder of Strong Partners, adds: “Our motivation was to make the city more lively and to fill hidden places with life. Looking back, this was more than fulfilled – not only because of the great number of participants, but because of the energy that was created.”
It is already clear that the project will be continued in 2026. “It can’t just be a flash in the pan,” Weitkamp continued. “We now have the self-confidence to think of our roof terrace even more as a place for experiences – even beyond yoga.” Paula Menninghaus adds: “Such alliances between trade, movement and city life are rare – and that is precisely why they are so valuable.”
The Schnitzler fashion house was founded in 1892 and is now family-run by Andreas Weitkamp in the fifth generation. Spanning more than 2,000 square meters, it offers a curated premium fashion range for women, men and children from more than 200 brands.
