“Bold youth probably thought they were having fun, but it is certainly not fun,” says Ester Gerbers of the Borger-West playground association. A few days ago, the association’s board was told that the playground at the panna field in Borger-West was in a lost state. “The banner with frame has been completely destroyed, the house rules sign has been broken off and the entrance gate has been kicked to pieces.”
“We have no idea who caused this, a report has been filed and we are leaving it to the police.”
What Gerbers is particularly disappointed about is that this puts the volunteers back to work. “The fact that this costs money and we have to pay for it out of our own pocket is just that. But so much volunteer time is involved in this, which is just a downer.”
Gerbers expects that the association will spend around a thousand euros on this ‘joke’. “The perpetrators are probably not aware of how much money something like this costs.”
