Successor to Blanc

The Al-Ittihad Club has presented a successor almost two weeks after the dismissal of Laurent Blanc. Sérgio Conceição takes over the club from Saudi Arabia around captain Karim Benzema, former Bundesliga professional Moussa Diaby and N’Golo Kanté. According to media reports, the contract will run until 2027, although this was not initially officially confirmed.
The 50-year-old Portuguese coached AC Milan until the summer and was then linked to several clubs, including Fenerbahce and AS Monaco, which is looking for a possible successor to Adi Hütter. At Milan, Conceição had to resign after half a season with 31 games and an average of 1.71 points.
At Al-Ittihad, Conceição should now forget the weak start to the season with four defeats from eight games. Last year the double of the championship and the cup was achieved, the club is currently only in third place in the Saudi Pro League and in the AFC Champions League Elite there is a risk of being eliminated in the league phase.
