Since last week, football fans from all over the world have been excited about the World Cup. The professionals at Hannover 96 have dared to predict who they think will win the title. There is a trend.

The professional footballers are in complete agreement Hannover 96 not, but they assume that a European country will become the men’s soccer world champion in 2026. Twelve of them answered the question for their club’s social media account about who they thought would be crowned champion.

Germany, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and France are very popular with them.

Germany therefore sees 96 defender Boris Tomiak and midfielder Franz Roggow at the front. “And Undav becomes top scorer,” the latter adds. For Kolja Oudenne it’s not quite so clear: “Germany or Sweden,” he is quoted as saying in an Instagram post by Hannover 96.

William Kokolo and Mustapha Bundu see France as the next world champion, although Bundu can just as easily imagine Portugal. Husseyn Chakroun and Mwisho Mhango also tip this country.

But the Spanish national team gets the most votes. Hayate Matsuda, Stefan Teitur Thordarson, Virgil Ghita, Waniss Taibi and Benedikt Pichler assume that the “Furia Roja” will win the race.

“And Hannover will be promoted next season”

For Pichler it is also clear who will be runner-up: Spain will play against Austria in the final, says the Austrian footballer, who has been under contract with Hannover since 2025, with a wink.

Fans mention even more countries in the comment column. Among others, England, Turkey, Norway and Brazil are there. An HSV fan concludes: “Germany is doing it! And Hannover will be promoted next season.” The 96 professionals can probably agree on that too.
