The Verdi union is mobilizing for a demonstration in Stuttgart on Tuesday in the deadlocked collective bargaining dispute in retail. The background is the ongoing collective bargaining rounds in retail and mail order as well as in wholesale and foreign trade in Baden-Württemberg, as the union announced.

Although the employers had submitted initial offers, these “would not even compensate for the expected price increases”. According to Verdi, with the demonstration and a subsequent rally, the employees are making it clear that they will not allow themselves to be held back by further delays and inadequate offers.

Hundreds of thousands of people are employed in trade in Baden-Württemberg. Verdi is calling for an increase in wages and salaries by 300 euros. In wholesale and foreign trade, wages and salaries should increase by 7 percent, but at least by 250 euros. In addition, employers in both areas should increase training allowances by 150 euros. The third round of negotiations in retail is scheduled for July 8th, the next negotiations in wholesale and foreign trade are scheduled for June 26th.
