The Niners Chemnitz put in a brilliant performance at their home debut in the EuroCup and scored their first points.

Great performance by the Niners Chemnitz on match day two of the EuroCup. The Saxons achieved a convincing 86:67 (53:29) victory in front of their home crowd against the Lithuanian representative Lietkabelis Panevezys. After the close Opening defeat Against Athens, the Niners scored their historic first points in the second highest European basketball competition.

Chemnitz marches, Brewer towers

The Chemnitz team, where, alongside Kaza Kajami-Keane (recently suffering from thigh problems), Kostja Mushidi was surprisingly able to play again after breaking his nose, got off to a good start. Thanks to ten points in the first three minutes, the Niners were on top early on. Lietkabelis struggled and subsequently equalized (15:15/7th), but then had to let it go. Chemnitz, on the other hand, increased the pace at the end of the first quarter and went into the first quarter break with a lead of 28:17. In the second period, the Niners were initially able to maintain their lead before a brilliant Ty Brewer increased the score further with several fabulous three-pointers. Thanks to his 17 points in the first half and a convincing team performance up to this point, the team was already in a comfortable 53:29 lead at the break.

At the beginning of the game, the Niners fans showed a choreo that was worth seeing.

Niners bring victory safely over the finish line

In the second half too, the picture remained largely the same as the first half. Chemnitz controlled the action, although the Pastore team increasingly let off the accelerator. However, Lietkabelis was hardly able to capitalize on this and was still hopelessly behind at the third quarter break (71:46/30.). Because the game was decided, the final section was a little more balanced overall. In the meantime, the Niners allowed the guests to go on a 7-0 run and no longer threw every ball towards the basket with the last bit of force. The bottom line was a well-deserved 86:67 victory, in which Ty Brewer (19 points), Kevin Yebo (13), Nike Sibande (twelve), Kostja Mushidi (eleven) and Yordan Minchev (ten), four other Niners players were able to get on the scoresheet with double points.
