The strikes in the Zalando logistics center in Erfurt continue. The Verdi trade union accused the online fashion dealer of showing no willingness to negotiate a collective agreement. As union secretary Matthias Adorf announced on request, around 50 to 60 employees gathered in a parking lot in the logistics center at the beginning of the shift. During the course of the day, around 200 participants were expected. The number of employees, including temporary workers, was around 2,800, it said.
Verdi calls for the recognition of the area collective agreements for individual and mail order in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Here, wages for warehouse workers were more than ten percent above the wages currently paid by Zalando, the union claims. In addition, there would be higher surcharges and special payments, shorter weekly working hours, tariff pension and further improvements.
Adorf emphasized that the recent reports on business development at Zalando showed how enormous value creation is in the group. “In the second quarter of 2025 alone, input tax increased to more than 185 million euros. That means broken down to the individual employees in the group, a profit share of more than 11,000 euros for a single quarter.”
According to Verdi, the Zalando employees in Erfurt will enter the labor struggle for the fourth time in the history of the location. The early shift was initially affected on Monday. On Tuesday, a central strike meeting for all layers is to take place on the southern car park.
