Telstar lost 2-1 to FC Emmen on an atmospheric Oude Meerdijk. A fair result given the difference in power, but the Velsenaren fought until the last second. Glynor Plet scored for the visitors.
Without the suspended Özgür Aktas, Telstar faced the leader FC Emmen. The plans of the leader of the first division were clear from minute one: apply pressure and score quickly. The White Lions only occasionally came out of their shells.
Glynor Plet
Ten minutes before half time, the home team took the lead with a goal from Rui Mendes. The Portuguese pushed the ball into the bottom left corner. After the goal, a lot still happened in front of Ronald Koeman Jr.’s goal, but that did not lead to very big opportunities. Telstar is number sixteen in the ranking and could play frankly and freely. And that attitude led to the equalizing goal just before half-time. Glynor Plet headed in the 1-1 from a corner. That meant the eleventh for the top scorer of the Velsenaren.
Jari Flat
The boost just before half-time was unfortunately short-lived in the second half. It was precisely former Volendammer Jari Vlak who, after a few minutes, gave FC Emmen the lead again with a hard shot of about ten meters. The picture remained the same for the remainder of the second half. The game mainly took place around Telstar’s sixteen-meter area and occasionally Andries Jonker’s men came out. The only possibility was fifteen minutes before time for Anwar Bensabouh. The defender was allowed to prepare for a free kick at about twenty meters, but his effort went well over.
