Experts from the Technical University of Lübeck develop in the project Ravennternationalization of courses (KIS) In the period of initially four years, a concept that makes German -language courses more accessible to international students. The project will be with 3,718,802 euros promoted by the innovation foundation in university teaching. The aim is to enable young people with knowledge of German at B1 level to study at TH Lübeck and to specifically qualify them as specialists for the German labor market. The course General electrical engineering serves as a pilot.

Why the project is important

International students want to remain largely in Germany, but are often breaking their studies on an above -average frequency. The reasons include language, missing networks and complex processes. The project encounters these challenges with a broad use of AI over the entire life of the life in their studies and combines this with personal support and clear paths into practice.

Advantages for international students

The project relies on AI supported measures that make it easier to get started and ensure success. This includes, for example, AI-based English subtitles for the lectures. In addition, with the help of AI from the lecture foils, videos, transcripts, translations and vocabulary and grammar exercises are to be created. An international coach accompanies the students closely over the semester, promotes self -reflection and target declaration and helps with practical hurdles.

Benefits for companies in Schleswig-Holstein

Companies at the location benefit from better prepared international specialists. Early integrated partners, including the Stadtwerke Lübeck Group GmbH and the Drägerwerkeenable study -accompanying practical phases. Formats such as a job speed dating with representatives of local companies are also considered. This creates contacts, practical experience and a precise transition to employment-particularly relevant against the background of the shortage of skilled workers in the MINT area.

Change teaching permanently

We are very happy that we can finally get started with the projectsays Prof. Karen Cabos, Vice President of Research and International at TH Lübeck. The project creates processes and technical building blocks that have the potential to permanently change the apprenticeship at TH Lübeck. They are transferable to other courses and strengthen the international orientation of our university-with concrete added value for students and the economy in Schleswig-Holstein.

This is how the implementation works

The project is divided into four work packages: project management, studies (with measures such as an intelligent assistant and an international coach), language skills (which is conveyed by a buddy program and, for example, a AI speech trainer) and intercultural skills (which are strengthened during the Welcome Week at the beginning of their studies or in the job speed dating).
