At the European Basketball Championship, Isaac Bonga played up, convinced the entire tournament over as a great defender and in the final against Turkey as an ice-cold executor. Rumors quickly made the round, the DBB star could return to the NBA. The European champion has now rejected rumors about a change.
“This is just something that the media are now writing about. I will now just celebrate and talk to my family, we’ll see the rest later,” Bonga said shortly after the triumph in the European Championship final against Turkey to “Meridian Sport” when he was asked about a possible return to the USA.
Even with a little distance, the German in the service of Partizan Belgrade has again clarified not to switch to the NBA promptly. “There were many rumors, but never talks with NBA team,” said Bonga in an interview with the Serbian “Mozzart Sport”. At some point, however, this could possibly become the topic again.
Bonga about NBA: “Never know what the future brings”
“You never know what the future brings,” said the 25-year-old in a varied manner. In the best basketball league in the world, Bonga was under contract between 2018 and 2022 for the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. After two years at Bayern Munich, the native of Neuwieder hired in Serbia in the summer of 2024.
In his second season with Partizan, Bonga has big plans. “The good thing is that the most important players have remained. There were great newcomers like Shake Milton and Jabari Parker. It will be a long but exciting season. We all developed further, and the fans can be happy,” he says.
The triumph in the ABA league last year was already a “big moment” that “showed that we have a lot of potential.”
