Yet the organization fears for the future. Natuurpunt receives around 15 million euros from the Flemish government annually to manage 30,000 hectares of nature. But savings are under pressure through savings.

“It is a holiday today, but it is overshadowed by the fact that we will receive fewer subsidies for the management of all those areas. Without Natuurpunt there would be no more nature in Flanders. We are convinced of that,” said John Maes of Natuurpunt.
