The 2026 World Cup is accompanied by three official mascots. Maple of the moose, Zayu The Jaguar and Clutch of the Weißkopfseadler should symbolize the three hosts Canada, Mexico and the USA, as the FIFA World Association announced. It was only for the second time after 2002 in South Korea and Japan three mascots, the very first one was presented in England in 1966.

“The three mascots are crucial for the incredible, cheerful atmosphere at this groundbreaking tournament. They conquer hearts and worries in North America and around the world for a great atmosphere. I already see how they are on children’s T-shirts, clapping football stars and-as a further premiere for this tournament-appearing in video games that are played by millions of people around the world,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The World Cup will take place next year with 48 teams from June 11th to July 19th. “Maple, Zayu and Clutch symbolize joy, energy and sense of community like the FIFA World Cup,” continued Infantino. Maple in German maple means what the flag of Canada adorns while Clutch is a clasp or claw. The name Zayu is derived from unity, strength and joy.
