The “Königsblauen” have long trouble with Greuther Fürth – before the knots burst in the final phase. Another club remains at the top.
At FC Schalke 04 it is currently in the 2nd Bundesliga: The “Königsblauen” won 1-0 (0-0) against Greuther Fürth at the start of the 7th match day and thus temporarily jumped in second place in the table.
Finn Porath (77th) made his goal cheers in the Veltins Arena and the fourth victory from the last five games. The team of coach Miron Muslić, who again convinced with a strong defensive, also offered their best season game offensive. Despite many good chances, it took the final phase before the hosts met.
After nine minutes, Schalke had to do without defenders Timo Becker, who had already went into the game. After an unfortunate collision with Ron Schallenberg, the ex-Kiel could not continue with knee pain. The royal blue started extremely aggressively and had the first major chance (12th) through Soufiane el-faouzi after strong solo.
The only drawback in a strong first half: Despite sometimes oppressive superiority with 12: 0 goal shots, the Gelsenkircheners did not achieve the well -deserved leadership. It continued similarly after the break: Kenan Karaman failed by head (54th), Vitalie Becker (69.) and Moussa Sylla (74th) with shots on goalkeeper Pelle Boevink. In added time, Schalke keeper Loris Karius saved the victory with a brilliant parade against Omar Sillah (90.+6).
In the meantime, Darmstadt 98 remains in first place. The “lilies” won 2-0 (1-0) against Dynamo Dresden on Friday. ISAC Lidberg (37th) and Fraser Hornby (48th) ensured the next success of the team of coach Florian Kohfeldt.
The Darmstädter initially had problems against the team of coach Thomas Stamm, who most recently fought one point against the top teams Elversberg and Hanover. Hornby only gave up the first warning shot in the 22nd minute. Then Marco Richter acted quickly after a ball loss of Dynamo and used Lidberg, who took the first big chance.
After the second goal, the lilies managed the leadership confidently and, led by the Sturmduo Lidberg/Hornby, unsuccessfully pushed the next goal.
