On the E17 in Kruisem a major accident happened this morning in the direction of France. The car bumped into the central reservation, overturned and caught fire. The driver died. A truck was also involved in the accident. He got a blowout and crashed into the car. Three lanes are blocked. The traffic must be done through the breakdown strip and that ensures a kilometer -long traffic jam. Also in the other direction there was soon a viewing file. A lane towards Ghent is also closed to the emergency services.
The waiting times in the traffic jam in the direction of France rise to more than one hour. The Flemish Traffic Center calls on to drive from Ghent via the E40 to Bruges and then via the E403 to Kortrijk, towards the French border.
