There is bonje about the return of Baantjer to SBS 6. The producer of the series, Banijay, and the publishing house of the book series of the same name, the fountain, are upset. “More money please!”
The legendary series Baantjer, in which Piet Römer played the leading role for years, returns to SBS 6. Producer Banijay is working on a new series of episodes, but on the basis of the old books by Schrijver Appie Baantjer. After his death, 25 more books were published by Peter Römer, the son of Piet, but there is hassle about that.
Hagel
The original plan was that the Revival would be based on SBS 6 on those books by Peter, but De Fontein publishing house would demand too much money. “Unfortunately, no agreement has been reached with the publishing house,” said a spokesperson for Banijay in the Ad.
Banijay says it owns the full film and television rights on the original novels of Appie Baantjer. “And, out of appreciation for the relationship (with De Fontein publishing house, ed.), An additional proposal has made. Unfortunately, it has not been used to date.”
Publisher responds
Now the SBS 6 series will be based on the old novels of Appie Baantjer. Too bad, says Jeanette Ploeger of the publishing house in the newspaper. “Because in terms of content it would have been nice if they had done something with those good books by Peter, especially for a new TV series.”
“Now we have fallen back on the old contracts about the books of Appie Baantjer, where they naturally have the freedom to write the scripts themselves. So we are still negotiating the new series based on our old agreements. And that includes a financial and substantive component. We are talking about that.”
No deal
According to Banijay, however, there is no more talk about anything, because they would already have all the film and TV rights of the old Baantjer books.
So there will be no new deal, the producer concludes. “Our additional proposal is an allowance, because we want to continue working with the fountain.”
