North Sea Drones was founded ten years ago by Koksijdaar Elwin Van Herck, as a cheaper alternative to make air images, which then usually happened with helicopters. Ten years later, drones are indispensable. “A lot of people use drones, in different sectors. Just think of construction, agriculture, media … We are still flying within a visibility range, but in the future that is outdoor viewing range. We are going to transport packages, transport certain goods, transport people … we are at the very beginning of a revolution,” says Van Herck.
This afternoon, Federal Mobility Minister Jean-Luc Crucke is a guest at the company. He is impressed by the capacities of a drone. “When you see that drone, you see that we are talking about the mobility of the future. It is important that we make the rules in advance so that as many people with a drone as possible can fly, but in a legal context.”
