Today the internet consultation started a change on the asylum measures Act, reports Minister David van Weel (asylum and migration). This change, a so -called novella, stipulates that help to illegally reside in the Netherlands will not be punishable. The consultation runs until 26 September.
Minister Van Weel has indicated that he wants to offer the Novelle after the consultation and advice by the Council of State to the House of Representatives as quickly as possible.
He hopes that the handling of the asylum measurement measures law in the Senate can already start, in anticipation of the Novelle legislative procedure.
The outgoing cabinet attaches great importance to the Asylum Measures Act. This must simplify the asylum procedure, promote that foreigners cooperate in their procedure and contribute to limiting the asylum intake.
