At the start of the new season, Bayern was against a record set against the previous year’s fourth. The spectators were allowed to cheer late – then twice.

FC Bayern won the opening game of the women’s Bundesliga. In the Allianz Arena, the Double winner woke up late, but ultimately defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 (0-0). The “Werkelf” started aggressively and presented the Munich women with some challenges, but in the end the first three points are on the side of Bavaria.

Newcomer Vanessa Gilles redeemed her team in the 76th minute when she headed 1-0 after a corner kick. Bayern coach José Barcala showed a good hand with his substitution of Klara Bühl: the German international scored the first goal and increased only two minutes later.

By the way: 57,762 fans came to the Allianz Arena on Saturday. This exceeded the previous record of 57,000 fans at the cup semi-final between Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen in the Hamburg Volksparkstadion last March.

90th minute +5: The final whistle. FC Bayern defeats Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 at the start of the women’s Bundesliga. The guests started with more speed and energy, but they remained too harmless in the offensive game. Bavaria also benefited from the substitute Klara Bühl. The German international put on the first goal with a corner kick, only to meet two minutes later.
