The incident took place around 00.45, when the family’s car ended up against a traffic light. Both the Arro Ypres police zone and the fire brigade of Westhoek Zone quickly arrived.
The driver, a 36-year-old woman from Zonnebeke, took a positive alcohol test. Her driver’s license was immediately withdrawn and because she was opposed to the police, she was swept in the buoys and transferred to the commissioner. Her husband and the three children were taken away with an ambulance as a precaution, but were not injured.
