After closing the transfer window, FC Schalke 04 hopes for further departures in the large European leagues to relieve the budget. Specifically, according to the “WAZ”, Henning Matriciani, Amin Younes, Ibrahima Cissé, Anton Donkor and Pape Meïssa Ba, who hardly play a role in terms of sport and where the royal blue want to save the salary. The defensive midfielder Mauro Zalazar could also leave the second division club on a loan, while the remaining attacker Moussa Sylla does not seem to be secure.
Sports board member Frank Baumann can hardly say whether Schalke still records success on the departures. “We are in constant exchange with the players and their consultants. It is not in our hands – the players also have to want it. But I don’t want to rule out that there are still offers.” For example, changes in Belgium and Poland are still possible until September 8th, in the Czech Republic and Switzerland until September 9th and in Saudi Arabia until September 11th.
Top scorer Sylla had been released for a transfer, Leicester City was considered to be very interested. In the room there was a transfer fee of 5 million to 6 million euros, which could have increased with bonuses to EUR 7 million. However, a short -term departure no longer came about. “For budget reasons, it would make sense on the departure side if we had found one or the other solution,” says manager Baumann. Defender Cissé was intended to borrow to AC Amiens, which could also be realized.
Despite these failed departures, the new Schalke sports director Baumann is satisfied with the yield at the summer transfer market. “On the access side we managed to implement the topics that we have planned. The team needed a new axis and characters – boys who fit Schalke and fully identify with the club,” the former Bremer is cited. “I am very confident that we made a good choice.”
The shortcomings have re-cleared themselves up to the Deadline Day with Christian Gomis, Finn Porath, Nikola Katic, Soufiane El-Faouzi, returnee Timo Becker and Hasan Kuruçay for a total of EUR 2.65 million. This is opposed to 8.25 million income for the sales of Taylan Bulut, Derry Murkin, Paul Seguin, Lino Tempelmann, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Ron-Thorben Hoffmann.
