Magdalena Neuner celebrated many successes as a biathlete. However, due to her popularity, she also gave up anonymity in public.

Success can have a high price. The German biathlon icon Magdalena Neuner also had to find out, as she now reported in the podcast “The Gruaberin”. The 38-year-old ended her career in 2012 after choosing the Olympic champion twice and also became world champion twelve. But during her active time she also had to deal with unsightly topics: she had a stalker.

He left her a letter on the car every day. Neuner stated in the podcast: “I knew he was there every night, he is at the house every night. Then I drove to the police station every day with this letter.

In August 2010, the climax of years of harassment came. The man, a former business IT specialist, knocked on her window on her balcony in the evening. The consequences for nine were massive. She had suffered from sleep disorders and did not find any sleep days before her return from the training camp – just with the idea of being back home soon. Despite the ban on contact, the perpetrator left news until his death. Neuner reported: “Then the one took his own life, at some point.”

In retrospect, Neuner said: “Basically, fear takes a lot of energy for life and a lot of joie de vivre. Something like that leaves traces and wounds somewhere, I have to honestly say, especially mentally.” Today she is happy and goes through life without fear.
