“I’m not worried about my future at the moment. I want to finish the season properly in Freiburg. The higher we are in the table, the better it is. We also have a great chance of winning the cup in the cup. I’m fully focused on the club,” said the 22-year-old when asked about BVB’s interest in the “Sport1” interview.
Schlotterbeck confessed: “I’ve noticed that these changing topics influence me. It took me a bit in the second half of the season to get back in. Now I’m blocking everything and trying to hide it.”
The central defender feels admiration for a possible future BVB teammate. “I’m a big fan of Niklas Süle, of his style of play and how he handles everything,” enthused Schlotterbeck. “He’s a quiet player who is totally serious on the field. He always performs very well and was with the DFB at a young age, like me.”

For the World Cup year, Schlotterbeck has a lot planned for the national team, where he is still waiting for his debut.
“I want to be calm and confident and perform. I’ve started scoring goals now, which I think is good as a centre-back. I always want to keep a clean sheet, that’s what matters most to me. When a clean sheet comes up, you win 99 percent of your games at the DFB because you have an enormous quality up front on the offensive,” said the Freiburg player.
