Most recently, they played in different countries, now the footballer sisters Ana Maria and Kristina Marković even switch to the same club. It is an ambitious project in the USA.

A double transfer caused a sensation in the Usl Super League: Ana Maria Marković and her sister Kristina Marković will play together for Brooklyn FC in the future. The two footballers switch to the USA – and write a small piece of league history.

Ana Maria was last under contract with the Portuguese first division club Sporting Braga, but was borrowed to SF Damaiense. Her sister Kristina has played for Rapperswil-Jona in the Swiss Women’s Super League so far. Now both go a common path in the still young but ambitious professional league in the USA.

In conversation with “20 minutes”, Ana Maria said: “When the chance to sign together at Brooklyn FC in the USA, we didn’t have to think about a second.” She further explained: “We are not only proud to be the first sisters in the Usl League, but also to take this step together: as a family, as a team and as a role model for all girls who have great dreams.”

The Usl Super League was founded in 2021 and wants to establish itself as a professional women’s football league. Brooklyn FC is one of the ambitious clubs in the league – with investors in the background who are also supposed to hold shares in European associations.

Last Sunday Ana Maria celebrated her competitive debut for Brooklyn. In the 2-1 win against Tampa Bay Sun, she was substituted in the 84th minute. Kristina was not yet in the squad at the start.
