They have been emotional days for the 26-year-old Daphne Wighman. Last Saturday she said goodbye to her father André during the funeral. A week earlier, on Saturday afternoon, August 16, three days after his phone was stolen, he dies. “We as a family are sure that it had to do with this.”

Optimism lost

The family is therefore convinced that the way the phone disappeared played a role in his death. Although he had been sick for a long time, according to the family, the stress and powerlessness caused the incident caused an acceleration of the process. “He also said to me: it seems like the universe first removes my phone, everything I still have,” said Wighman. “And he said: as if I should go afterwards. He had lost all his optimism.”

André wanted to share a story himself

The 69-year-old André wanted to share his story himself, but it shouldn’t have been the case, says Daphne. That is why she wants to fulfill his wish to go outside with this story. She hopes it will reach the perpetrator. “We have also lost a very large part of him,” says his daughter. “We don’t know if he made notes, possibly that he wanted to say things. So there is a very big question mark and I also want the perpetrator to know that.”
