Julian Brandt’s contract with the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund expires in 2026. But the offensive midfielder may have an extension.

“The contract expires, but the future is open,” said Borussia Dortmund’s managing director Lars Ricken with a view of Julian Brandt at “Sky90”.

The BVB boss emphasized: “We see how the season is going. He fights out of his low, I can also imagine an extension of the contract if the performance is right.”

The “Ruhr Nachrichten” had already written at the end of July that Brandt should get the chance to recommend itself at Borussia Dortmund for a new working paper.

At that time, Ricken had already indicated: “We are already rewarding that he fought back after a not so good phase. He made a decisive contribution to having reached our minimum goal.”

In the second half of the season, Brandt was an important part of the catch -up, which led BVB from the gray no man’s land in the table to the Champions League. Previously, the 48-time international was still in a blatant shape.

Brandt switched from Bayer Leverkusen to Borussia Dortmund in summer 2019. The owner changed 25 million euros at the time. He played for the black and yellow for 268 competitive games, in which he scored 47 goals and prepared 66 more goals.

Brandt looks relaxed at his future at BVB

In June, Brandt had commented on BVB for his future. “We can chat every two weeks, but the answer will always be relatively the same. The situation of my contract is also known to me and certainly to the club. But everything is super relaxed,” he said at “Sky”.

In spring Brandt was associated with a switch to Werder Bremen.
