Although the spectators at Spaarndam had to have a lot of patience during the Sail-Out, it was more than worth the wait: “We come from Gelderland and we don’t know this, so it’s fantastic to experience.”
Snack bar holder Dennis Visser was good prepared On the great bustle. The snack bar, located next to the North Sea Canal, has had a top week. “A thousand hamburgers went through, 500 kilos of fries and a lot of soft ice cream. It was a very successful week for us as a family.”
No fewer than 2.5 million visitors
This edition of Sail attracted no fewer than 2.5 million visitors in five days. That is about 200,000 more than ten years ago.
According to Chris Jansen, head of communication of SAIL, the organization looks back on a ‘very successful event’. “Those meetings between visitors in large numbers here on the quay and on the water and those international crew members, that was really fantastic again.”
