I was recently at my regular supermarket and to my disappointment that my favorite poppy seeds were again not on the shelves. Just asked the ‘head of bakkerette’ how that is exactly. A remarkable explanation followed: “That’s right, sir. The seeds come from the poppy. You can fall through the basket during a drug test. Then you have to eat three entire breads with poppy seeds or 25 muffins in one go, and you only get high after about a thousand loaves. But our regular supplier did not want to take any risk,” she sighed.
