KIruna, 19 Aug. (askanews) – The Kiruna red wood church, in northern Sweden, started its transfer to its new headquarters about five kilometers away.

It is a symbolic step in the transfer of the whole city to cope with the expansion of an iron mine. His journey was first blessed by the bishop Sa Nystr me by the priest Lena Tj Rnberg, parish priest of Kiruna.
Loaded on a special convoy – with beams and two rows of trailers – the Kiruna Kyrka, Lutheran Church inaugurated in 1912 and considered one of the most beautiful buildings in Sweden, is moving very slowly, between 500 meters and 1 km/h. He should arrive at their destination on Wednesday.

The important logistical operation attended over 10,000 people, in addition to the 18,000 citizens, gathered behind the safety barriers under a blue sky, also King Carlo XVI Gustavo among the spectators who follow the journey thanks to the thirty cameras installed along the way, the Swedish television SVT transmits the entire trip live.
The Swedish authorities have decided to move the entire center of Kiruna to allow the exploitation of a huge iron mineral deposit by the Lkab group.
