An ordinary Monday evening in Berlin? Not if a real US superstar turns the Wuhlheide into a Honky-Tonk saloon. The meat-made Route 66 fantasy picks up fans and Americophils-with Red Solo Cups, large belt buckles and significantly less cringe than this intro would suggest. Because singer and rapper Post Malone manages to miss Country (and a little romanticized Redneck feeling) a modern coolness.
Jelly Roll: European premiere at Post Malone
Regardless of whether he will convince the viewers: for the support act Jelly Roll it will be an unforgettable evening anyway. “First time performing in Europe ever, this is a big deal for me,” he explains. The Germans thank him with decent applause. Even if not everyone knows hits like the song “I am Not Okay” nominated for a Grammy, the audience shows itself absolutely saddle festival at the latest at the “Country Roads” cover. Clever Move-after all, there is hardly any other country song that works so universally in this country.
The medley that he dedicates to his 17-year-old daughter is an even poacher ride: Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me”, Lynyrd Skynyrds “Sweet Home Alabama”, Dmx ‘”Party Up”, plus Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, “Young, Wild & Free” by Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa-and as The highlight: “Let it be” by the Beatles. These are singing moments with which Jelly Roll can definitely collect sympathy points.

Post Malone himself then comes as you now know it on the “Big Ass World Tour”: the trucker cap pulled deep in the face, Red Solo Cup in his hand, the jeans strengthened so stiff that it must have shot into it. “We have come to play some shity songs and party while we do it,” he announces nonchalant before sending his audience on a wild trip through various music genres.
The Germans, whose understanding of country with cowboy boots, suitable cowboy hat and cozy flannel shirt in midsummer, is expressed openly for the lived southern flair. Again and again small line dances break out in the audience – the efforts of all those stupid dance courses in the province seem to find their right to exist that evening.
During the songs, Malone shows himself as an obvious host. In the past, this has literally broken his neck in the past. Nevertheless, he signs caps, joins the audience and drinks beer, the fans are enough for him. “Thank you for let us go,” he says, and yes: you actually take this feeling of humans.
Heart pain and friendship
Posty would not be posty if he would not also hit melancholy tones. “Can I play you a sad song?” He asks before he started “i Fall Apart”. But when Jelly Roll later returns to the stage for her common song “Loser”, you can see two best buddies who are just happy. “A Posty and Jelly Sandwich,” jokes Malone before celebrating his buddy as “One of the Best Humans in the World”. Together they want to show that you can do everything if you only stay tuned: “Keep fucking chasing that shit!” The American Dream has spilled into the Wuhlheide in Berlin.
By the way, he shares private details: his three -year -old daughter now has a friend – “Three Phones, Three Firearms in his backpack” – and he doesn’t really know what to think of this love story. He devotes the song “Yours” to her before “Dead at the Honky Tonk” and a pyro show continues, the smell of which awakens early childhood memories of the small spatial cartridges during the cowboy carnival.
A wild ride for Berlin
For two hours, Malone blows his mix of country, hip -hop, pop and rock into Berlin’s summer night. “Rockstar” brings a flame sea, “Sunflower” and “Congratulations” set the brilliant final point. At the final, he lights up a floop and thanks everyone in the first ranks around his soul rest – with fixed hugs and selfies, autographs and fist bumps. A superstar without any fear of contact? Very worth seeing for a Monday evening.
