Again, prices for student rooms in Tilburg have risen the fastest in our province. This is evident on Tuesday from Kamernet’s room rental platform. Compared to the second quarter of last year, the prices for rooms in the city have increased by almost a quarter.

In Tilburg it is about being precise, an increase of 23 percent. In the Netherlands, prices only rose even faster in Nijmegen, namely with 24.3 percent.

An average room in Tilburg costs just as much as in Breda: 535 euros. Incidentally, the average prices in Breda have fallen precisely, by 2.7 percent.

Also in Eindhoven the prices fell last quarter compared to a year earlier. In the city of lights, an average room cost 440 euros, a decrease of 7.4 percent.

National increase relatively low
Now (high) schools and universities start again, many students are looking for a new room. Yet the national average rent for rooms ‘but’ rose by half a percent compared to the second quarter of 2024.

According to Kamernet, that relatively low increase can be explained ‘due to the price stability in cities with a lot of supply, such as Enschede and Utrecht’.
