“I think we had a fantastic weekend,” says René Boiten. He is one of the organizers of the Boerenrock Festival in Drouwenermond. “More visitors have come to Drouwenermond, so the festival lives and that is nice.”

The festival is left on Monday, but certainly not empty. The site is full of empty cups, fries bowls and also many cans at the campsite. The latter is surprising. “We just had a deposit point here. You can hand in your can and get it right away. But some people apparently don’t think that’s that important.”

There is still a deserted caravan on the campsite itself and a lot of waste has already been collected on large bumps. Broken awnings and picnic tables stand out. “There are people who really neatly prepare the stuff in bags so that we can easily clean it up. But with some I am curious what it looks like at their home.”

On the festival site itself, the hardest work is done on Monday. For example, the flags, banners and scaffolding are removed. Suppliers pick up their things. Everything goes smoothly according to a fixed order. “We now have a lot of work to bring everything back into original state, so that it will just be grassland. In principle there is no pressure on it, but next week we just have to get back to work. It would be nice if we have something of weekends to have the legs up.”

The weekend was not completely perfect. During the performance of StukTV, a confetti cannon exploded, where a visitor was hit by a part of the loop. “We have had one smell. We keep in touch with the victim. It doesn’t seem serious, but is very annoying.” Nothing can say about the cause. “It wasn’t our cannon either. It was hired by the production that was on stage, so I have no idea how something like that could happen.”

Soon the organization will evaluate again and also look ahead to next year. Boiten does not want to make any statements about that. “It was a great party and when I look at next year we have to work very hard to surpass that. But we will probably succeed again.”
