The expectations for Germany are stable over the next few years at 2.4 percent for 2025 and 2.3 percent for 2026 and 2028. “The inflation expectations have stabilized at a high level – both at short notice and with a view to the coming years,» said ifo researcher Philipp Heil. The current trade conflicts and import tariffs are essential drivers. Forecasts for 2027 were not queried.
For 2026, respondents assume a global average of 3.9 percent, for 2028 of 3.7 percent. The long -term expectations also stagnate at a relatively high level.
1340 business experts from 121 countries took part in the survey from June 17, 2025 to July 1, 2025.
