According to the police, a supermarket employee (22) in the branch on Fischerhüttenstrasse in Zehlendorf observed a young man around 6 p.m. on Wednesday who wanted to leave the shop without paying.
He followed the man, who was with an 18-year-old, outside. There, the employee spoke to the two and asked them to follow him to the market office.
On the way there, the companion is said to have suddenly grabbed the 22-year-old from behind and stabbed him several times with a knife, seriously injuring him. The duo fled.
The thief fled without taking anything, but the injured employee was able to stop the 18-year-old attacker near the supermarket. The knife attacker is said to have fallen and broken his leg.
Rescue workers took the two injured men to hospitals. The supermarket employee had to be operated on, as did the knife attacker.
According to the police, the 18-year-old was under the influence of alcohol. The murder weapon, a jackknife, was secured. The police are now investigating attempted shoplifting, dangerous bodily harm and violation of the weapons law.
