The Buenos Aires government announced that it will incorporate 1,000 troops to the public road before the end of the year, within the framework of the Comprehensive Security Plan. According to official data, since the beginning of the current management, 3,500 police officers have already been added to reinforce the presence in streets and public spaces.
The announcement was made during the act of graduation at the Higher Institute of Public Security (ISSP), in Parque Avellaneda, headed by the Head of Government, Jorge Macri. The official stressed that the incorporation of experienced personnel allows to reallocate other officers to patrol tasks. The Cabinet Chief, Gabriel Sánchez Zinny; the Minister of Security, Horacio Giménez; and the director of the ISSP, Martín López Zavaleta.
The new agents carried out the Nice course (new experience with experience), aimed at people who have belonged to other forces and have formal leave. The training, of one year duration and 240 hours Chair, includes physical, technical, legal and tactical training. In this case, graduates will work in the Autonomous Directorate of City Halls, replacing officers to go to patrol tasks. The program foresees the incorporation of about 2,500 new troops by 2027.
According to figures from the Ministry of Security, in 2024 1,600 new police graduated from the ISSP and another 1,000 who fulfilled administrative functions went to patrol were added. In July of this year 900 more were incorporated. Currently, the City Police has more than 27,000 agents and equipment that includes low lethality weapons, bulletproof vests with location system, new patrolmen, motorcycles and four -year -old.
The Security Plan also includes technological infrastructure: 82% of the Buenos Aires territory is covered by cameras, there are 350 safe points for direct contact with 911 and the digital ring – with 814 poric porches of patent in 74 accesses to the city -, which according to the Government allowed to reduce the automotive crime by 40%.
