Star footballer Alisha Lehmann switches to FC Como Women within the Italian series A from Juventus Turin.
The transfer of the 26 -year -old Swiss international, with her around 17 million followers on Instagram, one of the most famous professional footballers in the world, announced her new club on Tuesday. Lehmann signed a contract by 2028 at Lake Como, near the Swiss border.
Como is “a young club, but he has a clear determination. He is not afraid to do things differently-and that is a sign of strength for me,” said Lehmann, who recently reached the quarter-finals at home for Switzerland. Her new club wants to “become a yardstick in women’s football, not only in Italy, but throughout Europe and the world. It is a project that combines sport, fashion, culture and real values – and I think that’s exactly what women’s football needs now.”
The association, in which the German Ramona Petzelberger is also under contract, is owned by the US fund Mercury/13, which wants to build the first multi-club structure in women’s football. Giorgio Chiellini, European champion of 2021 and long-time professional at Lehmann’s ex-club Juve, is also financially involved.
The model is said to be similar to that of the City Football Group in men’s football, which includes Manchester City. Investments of around 100 million are planned for the future, but Como Women is still the only club.
It was only last summer that Lehmann switched from Aston Villa from England to Juventus. In the past season, at the end of which the Turiners celebrated the winning of the Doubles, the attacker played 22 competitive games and scored two goals.
