The German ski jumper Philipp Raimund and Luca Roth have occupied podium podiums at the summer Grand Prix in the French Course. The victory went to an Austrian.
Second place for Philipp Raimund and third place for Luca Roth: In the absence of the top athletes around Andreas Wellinger, Karl Geiger and Pius Paschke, the German ski jumpers only had to give up at the premiere of the new group format at the Sommer Grand Prix. Raimund only missed the victory by 1.9 points.
The Norwegians Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang took the ranks four and five, Gregor Deschwanden from Switzerland became sixth.
Lindvik, who, like Forfang, was suspended for a short time around five months ago after the manipulation scandal of Trondheim, was able to win the first jumping on Saturday in Couplevel. “I don’t think everyone was so damn happy that I won today. That’s why it was so damn great,” said 27-year-olds to the “Dagbladet”. Raimund also had to be satisfied with second place on Saturday.
Summer Grand Prix: Raimund First in the overall ranking
After two jumps in the summer grand prix, the DSV eagle with a total of 160 points has first place in the overall ranking before Lindvik (150 points). Roth ranks eighth.
For the first time, the “High Five” mode newly introduced by the International Ski Association (FIS) was used. The 50 qualified ski jumpers were divided into five athletes in ten groups. Only the top two ski jumper from each group and five “Lucky Loser” came to the final, where in duels jumped for victory. The points from the first round reached up to that point were reset.
The next competitions of the Sommer Grand Prix will follow next Saturday and Sunday, this time in WISLA in Poland.
