The journey to the Wacken Open Air 2025 is in full swing and several metal fans have already found their way to the camping site. The organizers published an important indication of camping on Instagram. Because on Tuesday, inconsistent weather can be expected.

Weather forecast for Wacken: lots of rain, wind and only moderate temperatures

For over three decades, the tranquil wacken in Schleswig-Holstein has been transforming into a Mecca for metal fans from all over the world every summer. From July 30 to August 2, 2025, the legendary Wacken Open Air will take place again – with around 85,000 expected visitors. But the weather could also be a challenge this year.

According to the current prediction of the German Weather Service (as of July 29), festival goals should be prepared for mixed weather. The organizer therefore gives the hint of securing tent in the ground on social media and planning or removing other covers if possible, otherwise they could become independent.

Already at the start of the W: O: A on Wednesday, July 30th, it will mostly be very cloudy to covered. Again and again, long -lasting rain, partly with showers and thunderstorms, can be expected. The temperatures range between 18 and 20 degrees. A weak to moderate wind from southwest to west also ensures uncomfortable conditions.

Even in the night of Thursday, it remains changeable. At around 14 degrees, further showers and occasionally thunderstorms are possible. Thursday is also not very festival -friendly: it remains wet and cloudy – with individual thunderstorms and maximum values around 21 degrees. The wind remains present.

On Friday, the temperatures climb slightly to a maximum of 22 degrees, but there is no noticeable weather improvement. Schauers and thunderstorms continue to dominate the picture. Rain showers are possible again on the night of Saturday.

Festival Saturday also remains unstable according to the current forecast. At around 20 degrees it becomes very cloudy, windy and probably again rainy.

Rubber boots out, pack the rain poncho

Festival goers should adapt to a classic North German summer weather this year – with a lot of rain, changeable clouds and moderate temperatures. Rubber boots, rain jacket and an extra portion of a good mood for the wet moments are therefore mandatory in the luggage for the Wacken Open Air 2025.
