Jake Sully and Neytiri go to the volcanic side of Pandora in the new trailer for James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash”. The film is scheduled to come to cinemas on December 17th.

The new clip for the third part of the successful franchise reveals little for the plot, but impresses with Cameron’s typical, opulent images. The focus is on dealing with the “Ash People”. They are a dark Na’vi tribe, which Sully, Neytiri and the Metkayina (the Wasserstamm from The Way of Water) have to face-in the middle of the major war against the colonizing forces of the Resources Development Administration (RDA).

“Your goddess has no power here”

The trailer shows the first scenes with Oona Chaplin as Varang, leader of the Ash People, who decides the video with the threatening words: “Your goddess has no power here.”

The clip also addresses how Jake and Neytiri wrestle with the events from The Way of Water – especially the death of their eldest son Neteyam. “You can’t live like this, darling – full of hatred,” says Sully to Neytiri.

Return of well -known stars and new faces

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña return in Fire and Ash as Sully and Neytiri. Other known actors are Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Jack Champion, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss and Kate Winslet. In addition to Oona Chaplin, Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis new to cast.

Two further sequels planned

Cameron turned “Fire and Ash” right after “The Way of Water”, which explains the three-year break between the sequels (for comparison: between the original Avatar and The Way of Water were 13 years). Two more Avatar films are already planned: Part four are scheduled to appear in 2029, part five in 2031.
