Not a cruise ship, nor an air raid siren. Anyone who went on or along the IJ on Tuesday evening will undoubtedly have heard the ‘urban horns’ of sound artist and instrument builder Christof Schläger. The Pärt Festival was opened at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ with a concert of no fewer than 144 ship’s horns.
