A 23-year-old man from Schoonebeek was arrested today in Emmen on suspicion of involvement in the fatal shooting in Coevorden last Saturday. In addition, a 21-year-old man from Emmen died.

The police are also investigating a building in Coevorden and in a building in Emmen.

It is the fifth arrest in this case, earlier a 16 -year -old boy from the municipality of Emmen and a man of 18 from Schoonebeek were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the shooting incident on the Kromme Elleboog. The 16-year-old is stuck in full limitations, just like the 23-year-old suspect from Schoonebeek arrested today. The 18-year-old is now free, but remains the suspect in the investigation.

Two men, aged 31 from Emmen and 33 years from Coevorden, were arrested because they are suspected of abuse and/or deprivation of liberty of the 18-year-old suspect. This happened just before the fatal shooting. The police are investigating whether the abuse and/or the deprivation of liberty are related to the fatal shooting incident. The two men were brought before today. The man from Emmen has been released but remains the suspect. The man from Coevorden is still stuck.

There is still much uncertainty about what happened around the shooting. The police therefore continue to investigate the case. The police do not exclude more arrests.
