Presenting next to a crispy fire, it sounds idyllic, but for Leonie ter Braak (44) it was a TV helic full of sweat, stress and hot flashes. “I had at least eighteen in a row,” she shouts.

The transition is no fun: mood swings, sleepless nights and sudden sweat attacks are all part of it. Leonie ter Braak (44) also has to do with it. But in her case there is a camera focused on it and is not running away. And she airs her heart about it in an extensive interview with the Linda.the magazine for women in transition.

Other person

For women in the spotlights such as Leonie, a hot flash is not a matter of just pulling out your sweater or opening a window. No, there is a make -up artist with a powder brush on your lip, a director in your ear and a camera that films every pore. So you have to do sweat discreetly, but how does something like that work?

Leonie shares her horror experience while presenting the reunion broadcast of Winter full of love. They are well prepared. “I now get hormones to combat the menopause, and since then I feel a different person.”

Woolen sweater

That other person abandoned her with winter full of love. “During the Winter’s reunion broadcast full of love, I had at least eighteen hot flashes, while I was sitting with a woolen sweater in front of a fireplace. I thought I was going crazy.”

There are more and more Dutch people who speak about this. Also take Bridget Maasland and Caroline Tensen. They occasionally have to deal with people who find that subject a bit chewed. Unjustified, says Leonie. “In the Netherlands, the trend: the one about the transition for women, what a murmur.”

“Do we have to?”

Leonie thinks it is strange that people think this is fiddled. “While there is so much ignorance about this subject. And medical science is hopelessly behind when it comes to women’s health. So we can?”

If her interview partner, the Flemish actor Pieter Embrechts (53), indicates that she is not so sure if he still wants to become a father, Leonie concludes: “If a woman at your age would give the same answer, everyone would scream and say that she is crazy, because” too old to become a mother. “

She sighs: “That is still the world in which we live.”
