The DFB team is in the semi-finals of the European Championship. The team performed strongly against France. Giovanna Hoffmann then spoke about her motivation.

For the DFB women, the dream of the European Championship semi-final fulfilled: The team of coach Christian Wück beat France in a nerve-wracking game in a nerve-wracking game on the penalty shootout (6: 5). Giovanna Hoffmann stood in the starting eleven for the first time on Saturday after substitutions and remained bite until she replaced in the 98th minute (T-online note 2). Then she spoke about what gave her strength in the quarter -finals.

“I am incredibly grateful. You know that I am believing,” said the 26-year-old in the mixed zone visibly touched to the journalists present. Then RB Leipzig’s player stated: “I am grateful to God that I got so much strength to be able to play this game. That the whole team was worn.”

While Hoffmann spoke, tears showed her eyes. However, she was able to hold it back when she explained: “I had the inner conviction that we will win all the time, and I am simply incredibly proud of every one that belongs. What we did today is incredible and I have to sort it first.”

During the first German European Championship games, Hoffmann was substituted for Lea Schüller. In the quarter -finals, she was allowed to show her skills for the first time right from the start. A privilege, as she gave after the game: “It was the biggest game of my career so far: a knockout game for Germany at an European Championship is a very special honor.” It was therefore tense, but was full of anticipation.

A Bible Verse also helped her that she read before the game against “Les Bleus”. This fit well with the opponent. What was the verse? “The fact that the strong fights do not always win and not always the rapid race, but that everyone depends on time and circumstances,” said Hoffmann about the Bible position that she internalized.

She emphasized: “I know that God holds my time and all circumstances in my hand. This verse was also very present in my head during the game. I got on my knees after the game because I was incredibly grateful that we got a round. I know that it is not a matter of course and thanked this gift accordingly.”
