Remco Evenepoel got out of the Tour de France at the “Tourmalet stage”. The podium chances of Florian Lipowitz in Paris are increasing.
Evenepoel fell back to the legendary Col du Tourmalet on Saturday at the beginning of the first climb and got out 100 kilometers before the finish. Until then, the Belgian was third in the overall classification.
Even Evenepoel had won the first flat time trial of the tour, but only plaz only occupied twelve during the mountain time trial to Peyragudes. Afterwards he spoke of a “bad” performance. The 25-year-old went into the stage with only six seconds ahead of Lipowitz. Evenepoel also wore the white jersey of the best young professional until Saturday, on which Lipowitz now also has the best chances.
In the previous year, Evenepoel took third place behind Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard during his tour debut.
