After the departure of Visboer Lon, we can no longer buy fresh fish in the village. But that has now changed: there is a fish stall in the Dorpsstraat. Unfortunately for fish lovers for a short duration.

Burger’s Fish from Scheveningen puts his fishing car along the road to Dorpsstraat every Thursday. On other days he is in places such as Pijnacker, Waddinxveen and Voorburg.

During the regional market

Exactly two years ago, Visboer Lon stopped his fishing shop in the Dorpsstraat. Since then we no longer buy fresh pegs, spiced gourmets and steamed mackerels in the village. There is a solution until the end of September, because then Burger’s Fish will be on the edge of the historic shopping street. Employee Omar says: “We only stand here on Thursdays with our fishing car. This is the weekly regional market at the same time. But after September this market will stop and the oliebollenkraam will return. We have to make way for that.”

Rather a fish

A customer says that she would rather see a fish stall than an oliebollen stall. “Those oliebollen can be stolen to me. The fish stall must stay!” Another woman says, “Well, I like those oliebollen very much. Can’t you stand next to each other here?”

New location

Omar indicates that it is in consultation for a permanent location in the Dorpsstraat. “It is not possible here, but perhaps we can get a permit for a place on the Pilatusdam. That is at the back of the Dorpsstraat.” But now in the summer period we can at least go for sandwiches herring, squabbling, fried squid rings and more. Burger’s Fish is open every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, September 25 is the last day.
