The nurse previously worked as an anesthesiologist in the Helios Hospital in Siegburg (North Rhine-Westphalia) in Germany. On Sunday, according to Bild, she supervised a patient transport for the first time, carried out by the Dutch company Zeusch Aviation.
The young nurse, who was affectionately called ‘Feña’ by friends, was married to her partner last year. “Maria was an incredibly open and friendly person. She had a dog called Mateo, of whom she loved more than whatever,” said nurse’s friends to Bild. She met her wife in Chile, then they moved to Siegburg together.

The death of the German doctor also caused a lot of sorrow. His colleagues in Diez (Rijnland-Palatten) posted a farewell message on Facebook: “We have lost a fantastic person, a real friend and a gifted emergency doctor.”
The man has worked at the emergency services all his life and leaves “a big gap”, especially for his family and his son, who, according to Bild, is only nine years old.
His brother Marcus: “Saving lives was his life, and now he had to pay for it with his own life. He was just the best. He saved human lives every day, three more last week.”
